2017 Blue Ridge Festival – Presented by the James Wood High School Band
Saturday, September 9, 2017 10 a.m.
Jerry Kelican Stadium James Wood High School, Winchester, VA
The format for this event will be a show preview/clinic/ critique. The opportunity to perform the entire field show in a non-competitive setting, receiving comments and critique from professionals of the marching arts, PRIOR to the first competition of the season.
After the first six band performances (15 minutes each) there will be an hour-long-critique session. Each of those ensembles will have a ONE HOUR clinic/critique session. The session will be divided into three segments, Visual Performance, Music Performance, and Overall Effect. Each band will meet with a panel judge representing that segment. At the conclusion of the first critique session, there will be a short break. The second set of bands will begin after the break and proceed in a similar schedule to the first set of bands.
Each band will receive:
- Full Performance
- One Hour Clinic/Critique Session with three judges/clinicians
- A Full Performance video from atop the press box without comments
- An opportunity to see other local bands perform their field shows for comments
There will be a six-judge panel: two judges each looking at Visual Performance, Music Performance, and Overall Effect.
