James Wood Band Boosters
The Band Boosters are an organization open to all parents and other supporters of the band. Parents of JWHS Band students are automatically voting members of the organization. Other supporters are eligible for honorary, non-voting membership. JWHS Band students are welcome to all general membership meetings and their input is encouraged. JWHS Band students are allowed to vote on proposed projects; however they are not allowed to make nominations or vote for the election of booster officers.
The Executive Board will execute and carry out programs and activities, as it deems necessary during the school year. The Executive Board meets monthly prior to the general membership meeting.

The current band bylaws can be found below. Changes to the bylaws will be voted on at the November 2017 band meeting.
General membership meetings are held the first Monday of each month in the band room and will be called to order at approximately 7:00 pm. Meetings normally last about one hour. In the event that school is not in session, and early school closing occurs, or there exists a school scheduing conflict on the First Monday, the meeting time will be the second Monday of that month. If cancelled due to inclement weather conditions, an announcement will be made on “WINC 92.5 FM”.
Scholarships are awarded to eligible seniors at the band banquet in June. A Scholarship Application must be completed. To be eligible, all applicants must be in good financial standing with the booster organization. There must be no outstanding balances of either general fund fees or trip fees during the their tenure with the band.
Scholarships are awarded based on
- Music or Guard performance
- letters of recommendations
- neatness of the application
- essay portion
- as well as other considerations
Scholarships are paid out in two payments after verification of enrollment. Our payment is normally made in August or September and the second payment is normally made in December or January. Payments must be made within the first year after graduation.
