From The President

Hello my name is Monte Morgan, and I wanted to introduce myself as the new president of the JWHS Band
Booster Club.  I enjoyed meeting many of you last year while I was involved with the band pit crew.  If I did not
meet you last year I am looking forward to meeting you this year while we serve together in order to help our
children achieve their goals.
The booster club is here to help and support you and your child during the band performances this year.  Our
bylaws state that not only are our goals to focus on financial support but also moral support.  The only way we can
succeed is to have all of our students and parents get involved.  I know like all of us your time and resources are
limited, that is why we have listed areas in which you can choose to be the most effective working around your
schedule.
Areas to get involved!!!
 Pit Crew – loading and unloading the trucks for a competition (either loading or unloading is fine, you
don’t have to do both) – all instruments this year will be on wheels, so limited to no heavy lifting.
 Color Guard uniforms, coordination and organization
 Uniforms – signing in and out uniforms before and after a competition or game
 Snacks – putting together snacks for the kids to have throughout the day of a competition
 Chaperones – We need at least 2 chaperones for each bus when we travel to a competition or game
Currently, we do not have enough money to put on a field show.  A field show requires props, instruments to be
put on wheels, flags, uniforms, vehicles/trailers to transport everything.  
1. Donations are a vital financial need to support the band.  We are asking parents to consider a donation of
$100 for the band so that we can ensure we can put a field show together.  Checks can be sent to James
Wood High School Marching Band, 161 Apple Pie Ridge Road, Winchester, VA 22603
2. Many of the companies we work for will match donations that you give.  Please ask your current company
if they can match or donate.  We can provide the necessary information you need to get a tax deduction.   
3. We are asking every band member to reach out and register a corporate sponsor.  Please see the attached
Champions Club pdf.
We only have a short amount of time as they are growing up to help and be a part of our kid’s lives’.   Let’s
show them that we care about community as well as them.
