JWHS Band News June 2021
Coming Events and Activities
As we move into the final weeks of the school year, there are some activities planned that I want to share with all of you pertaining to the end of the year.
The SPRING CONCERT and AWARDS CEREMONY will take place THIS Sunday, June 13, at 3:00 PM in the football stadium. Performances will be featured by the Color Guard, Woodwind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo. It will be a great event and will be a wonderful program to end a very complicated school year. At this program I will present awards to each of the award winning students. The program will be a “Concert on the Lawn” type of program, so bring your favorite lawn chair and enjoy the opportunity to see and hear your children perform.
On Tuesday, June 15, the underclassmen band students will perform for the Class of 2021 at the Senior Sunrise program. This will take place at 8 AM on that Tuesday. Band students are excused from the first 30 minutes of first block to participate.
The second annual Senior Parade will take place on Wednesday, June 16, at 2:00 PM. We have been asked to play some music at the opening on the parade for the Seniors that will come through. I am hoping that all of the underclassman band students are able to attend. I know the event is in the middle of the day so transportation may be an issue for some. Hope that everyone can attend.
Marching Band 2021
The new school year is just around the corner. I am looking forward to getting the band back to our regular business. With this being said…music and summer band info will be available for pick up at JWHS on MONDAY, JUNE 21, and TUESDAY, JUNE 22, 2021, from 6 PM – 8 PM at the JWHS Band Room. ALL FIELD SHOW MUSIC AND SUMMER INFORMATION CAN BE PICKED UP AT THIS TIME. ALSO, ANY STUDENT THAT NEEDS TO SIGN OUT A SCHOOL-OWNED INSTRUMENT MAY DO SO AT THIS TIME.
COLOR GUARD STUDENTS…I have arranged for you two workshops, to take place on these two days, June 21 & 22, from 6 – 8 PM. The works hops will focus on fundamentals and basic movements and give new members the chance to learn some basic skills before the summer break gets into full swing. Hope you will all be able to attend.
I have in the works weekly workshops for the drumline/color guard as well. More details will be coming soon! Look for the announcements.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support of the JWHS Band this year. It has been a year like no other and it gives me great hope to know that we were able to persevere and move forward this year. I hope you all can appreciate that I share your frustrations with our circumstances this school year and have done everything in my power to give our students the best possible experience given the situation. I look forward to the coming summer and the “New” year that we will embark on at the beginning of August. For those of you that will be graduating out this year, THANK YOU for everything you have done to support this program. You will be greatly missed and I hope you will stop by on occasion to say “hello.”
I look forward to seeing all of you on June 13, 2021.
